Great turnout last night at our last open hit of the summer. Thanks to everyone who has put so much effort into your preparation for the season! For those returning or who are new to the program here is what need to happen moving forward:
). Register on Final Forms and get all your documentation up to date. That means all student signatures need to be completed as well. Reminder, you can not play until all this documentation is completed. While I like to use texting to players during the season, Final Forms is the best way to contact players and parents throughout.
). The season begins Monday, August 12! Everyone will need to come to the HS courts at 12:45pm. We will be playing matches from 1-6pm. I use this time to evaluate skill level and ultimately determine a Varsity and JV team. Please note that no one is cut from tennis. Seniors can play JV as well as Freshman are able to play Varsity. If you are a novice player just starting out, this a great opportunity to get some structured match play in before your JV season begins and skill training is developed. For the Varsity hopeful, this time is used to determine Singles flights, Doubles partners and doubles flight levels for the top 12 players. If you play with the JV - they will practice from 2:30-5 as early as Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Ray Lokers is our JV Coach - (ray.lokers@gmail.com) will be in contact regarding the JV practice schedule.
). Varsity hopefuls should plan to play from 1-6pm Monday-Thursday. The first match for the Varsity is Friday, August 16 in Cadillac so we do not have a lot of time to prepare.
). Schedules and Important school info can be found at https://zeelandeastathletics.
). Please take plenty of water and snacks as needed. The first few days can be fairly grueling as Varsity hopefuls may play 2-3 matches per day.
). Please feel free to contact me anytime jed.mulderbmc@gmail.com
