The Zeeland East JV Chix hosted their final home games of the season in a double-header against Wyoming. In game 1 the offense was led by JJ Salas and Jailen Nesbit, both going 2/3 with an extra base hit (Salas triple, Nesbit double). Quincy Thome controlled the game on the mound for 4 innings striking out 5 while allowing 2 hits. Ryan Kuzma threw the last inning striking out 2. Final Score Chix win 11-1.
In game 2 Luke Nagelkirk threw 4 innings, striking out 5 batters while allowing just 1 hit. Koby Windeler closed the game striking out 2. The Chix offense was led by Quincy Thome and Andrew Natte. Thome- 2/3 (triple), Natte- 2/2 (walk). Final score of game 2 was 12-1.
Chix play their final game of the season on Thursday at Wyoming.

Win: 14 - 1
On Friday, ZE took on West Ottawa for a double header. In the first JJ Salas and Koby Windeler led the way on offense each having 2 hits and a walk. On the mound Gavin Drooger pitched the first 4 innings. He struck out 5 while allowing the solo run. Luke Nagelkirk closed the game and struck out 2. The Chix won 14-1 in 5 innings.
In game 2 it was very close for the first 4 innings, score was 2-1. Then with 2 outs Quincy Thome hit a huge RBI double, the Chix then added 3 more runs after all with 2 outs. Thome and Salas each had 2 hits while Koby Windeler was 3/3. Eli Nienhuis threw really well for 4 innings striking out 4. Quincy Thome closed the game on the mound.
Overall 2 big wins for the JV team against a solid West Ottawa team. Next game is Tuesday against Wyoming.

In game 3 of the series the Chix won 16-1. It was a full team effort offensively. Jailen Nesbit had 3 hits, Gavin Drooger and Luke Nagelkirk each added 2 of their own. Ryan Kuzma and JJ Salas each had a triple as well.
Defensively, Derek Baxter pitched 2 of the 3 innings, Jailen Nesbit closed the game throwing the last inning. Baxter struck out 5, Nesbit had 2 k's. No hits were allowed in the game by either pitcher.

Zeeland East JV basbeall closed the GR Union series with another win today, final score 16-1 in 3 innings. The Chix JV baseball team traveled to GR Union for a double-header. In the first game the bats were hot, multiple players for the Chix had multiple hits. The offense was led by Gavin Drooger and Quincy Thome who each had 3 hits. JJ Salas and Luke Nagelkirk each added 2 hits of their own as well, one being a triple for Nagelkirk. On the mound Quincy Thome shut them down for the first 3 innings allowing no runs and striking out 5. JJ Salas closed the game allowing 1 hit and no runs. The Chix won 19-0.
In game 2, Gavin Drooger had another 3 hit game going 3/3 at the plate. JJ Salas also reached base in all 4 at bats (3HBPs, 1 Walk). Luke Nagelkirk pitched 5 innings striking out 5, and allowing only 1 hit while giving up no runs. Koby Windeler threw the final inning and struck out all 3 batters looking. Chix won game 2 as well, final score 11-0.
Game 3 of the series is at home on Thursday, May 18.

Win: 9 - 5
The Zeeland East JV team came out on top tonight and won the series against Mona Shores. The score of game 3 ended up being 9-5. Offensive highlights came from Luke Nagelkirk 2/4, Koby Windeler 1/1 and reached base all 4 times ( 2 HBP, Walk), Eli Nienhuis 2/2 (2 doubles) and a walk, and Gavin Drooger 2/2 with a walk.
Defensively Eli Nienhuis also pitched a great game totaling 5 and 1/3 innings, only letting up 1 earned run on 2 hits while striking out 6. Jailen Nesbit sealed the game with his pitching of the last 1 and 2/3 innings.
Zeeland East JV is now 17-3 overall. They will play Grand Rapids Union away on Tuesday 5/16 for a doubleheader.

Win: 10 - 1
Zeeland East JV played a double-header against Mona Shores this afternoon. They won game 1 by a score of 10-1 with a great offensive display. Windeler led the way going 3/4, Nesbit was 2/3 including a double, and Natte reached base 3 times scoring twice. On the mound it was Nagelkirk pitching the first 4 innings. He handed out 7 strikeouts while allowing 1 run on 4 hits. Thome threw the last 2 innings and allowed 2 hits while striking out 2.
In game 2 Zeeland East lost 10-3. Windeler threw the middle 3 innings and struck out 7. Offensively Nagelkirk hit a double, and Salas reached base twice.
Game 3 of the series will take place at Mona Shores on Thursday, May 11 where the JV Chix look to win the series.

Win: 5 - 2
Zeeland East JV baseball team traveled to Reeths Puffer for a double header after Tuesday's double header was canceled due to weather.
The Chix won game 1 by a score of 5-2. Eli Nienhuis started the game on the mound allowing 1 run with 3k's and no hits in his 2 innings of work. Derek Baxter pitched the next 3 innings giving up 1 unearned run on 1 hit while striking out 5. Quincy Thome closed the game striking out 2 hitters. Offensively, Gavin Drooger and Andrew Natte were both 2/4. Ryan Kuzma was 2/3 with a walk and Derek Baxter was also 2/3 including a double.
Game 2 was another win for the Chix, this time 9-2. Luke Nagelkirk and Gavin Drooger both pitched 3 innings and both struck out 5 batters. Gavin Drooger was also 3/4 at the plate in the game. Quincy Thome was 2/4 (double, single).
Zeeland East JV is hosting Mona Shores next Tuesday (5/8) for a double header.

The Chix wrapped up the series against Holland with another win. The final score being 8-1. The Chix were led by Koby Windeler who went 3/4 (double, 2 singles). Andrew Natte and Gavin Drooger each added 2 hits of their own. On the mound Eli Nienhuis went 5 strong innings giving up no runs and striking out 9. Quincy Thome threw the final 2 innings striking out 2 and giving up 1 unearned run.
Zeeland East JV is now 11-2 on the season. The Chix will play again next Tuesday against Reeths Puffer.

The Zeeland East JV baseball team traveled to Holland this afternoon for a double header. In the first game it was Gavin Drooger on the mound again. He pitched 5 innings, totaling 5 strikeout, allowing 1 hit and no runs. Offensively, JJ Salas went 2/3 with an RBI and run scored. Derek Baxter also reached base twice, including a double and scored twice. Ryan Kuzma finished the final inning on the mound allowing 1 hit and no runs as well. The Chix won game 1 5-0.
In game 2 Derek Baxter threw all 3 innings, striking out 5, allowing 1 run on no hits. The top hitters for the Chix were Koby Windeler, Quincy Thome, and Eli Nienhuis. Windeler was 4/4 with 3 singles and a double while scoring 4 runs as well. Thome was 3/4, and Nienhuis was 3/3 including a double. The Chix also ended up winning this one by a score of 18-1.
Zeeland East JV will finish the series against Holland at home on Thursday.
Boys Junior Varsity Baseball vs. Hudsonville High School

The Zeeland East JV baseball team lost a really good game against a really good Hudsonville team. The Chix led 1-0 for the first 5 and 2/3 innings before Hudsonville strung together a few hits scoring 4 runs. Gavin Drooger pitched 5 and 2/3 innings striking out 8 batters. Luke Nagelkirk ended the game on the mound.
Offensively, JJ Salas had 2 hits and the lone RBI. Quincy Thome was great defensively and had a hit and run scored. In the end the Chix lost by a final score of 4-1.
Zeeland East JV is now 6-2. They will take on Holland next week.

Zeeland East JV wrapped the series up against Muskegon with another 15-0 win at home. It was a full team offense and a lot of walks. Eli Nienhuis pitched all 3 innings while striking out 8.
The Chix will play Hudsonville away next on Friday, April 21.

This afternoon the Zeeland East JV baseball team traveled to Marsh Field for a double header against Muskegon. In game 1 Quincy Thome took the mound and pitched all 3 innings tallying 7 strikeouts and no runs allowed. Koby Windeler led the offense with 2 singles and a walk. The Chix defeated Muskegon 15-0.
In game 2 Derek Baxter also pitched all 3 innings and had 9 strikeouts allowing no runs. Offensively Quincy Thome, Koby Windeler and JJ Salas all had multiple hits leading to a score of 15-0 for another Chix win.
Zeeland East JV is back at home on Thursday to wrap the series up against Muskegon.

The Zeeland East JV baseball team traveled to Whitehall Saturday morning for a double header. In game 1, Eli Nienhuis pitched 5 and 2/3 innings allowing only 1 run on 4 hits. He struck out 10 in the game. Offensively, Koby Windeler had 2 hits (triple, single) and a walk. JJ Salas also had 2 hits and a HBP. The Chix won 9-1.
In game 2 Derek Baxter threw all 4 innings before the Chix mercied Whitehall by a score of 14-2. Baxter gave up 2 runs on 1 hit while striking out 11. Koby Windeler went 2/2 at the plate, both hits being triples, also had a walk and a HBP. Ryan Kuzma reached base all 4 times with 2 walks and 2 HBP's. Quincy Thome was 2/4 with 2 doubles in the game.
The JV Chix next play on Tuesday, April 18th. They will travel to Muskegon for a double header. Record is now 6-1.

Lose: 6 - 8
Zeeland East JV played against a very solid Holland Christian team. The final score being 8-6 with the Maroons coming out on top. The Chix are now 4-1. In the top of the first inning the Chix went down 3-0. They quickly responded with 3 of their own in the bottom to tie it up. The next 5 innings were very silent for the Chix as they added only 1 run. In the bottom of the 7th with the Maroons leading 8-4, the Chix loaded the bases with no outs. They scored 2 but came up short overall. Final score 8-6, Holland Christian.
JJ Salas led the way with 3 hits, Quincy Thome adding 2 of his own. Quincy also pitched 2 shutout innings. Koby Windeler also threw 2 innings striking out 5.
Zeeland East plays two games tomorrow morning at Whitehall.

The JV Chix wrapped up the rivalry series against Zeeland West with another win by the score of 21-2. It was a great day on offense for Zeeland East. Quincy Thome led the way going 4 for 4 with a single, 2 doubles, and a grand slam! Gavin Drooger also had a good day at the plate racking up 2 hits and drawing a walk. JJ Salas reached base in all 4 plate appearances with 1 hit and 3 walks. Eli Nienhuis started on the bump, with Jailen Nesbit coming in to relieve the final 2 innings of this 3 inning game. Nesbit recorded the win, striking out 4 in his two innings of work. The JV Chix are now 4-0.
Zeeland East JV plays again tomorrow at home vs Holland Christian 4/14.
Boys Junior Varsity Baseball vs. Zeeland West High School

In game 1 of this Junior Varsity rivalry between Zeeland East and Zeeland West, East came out on top 11-1 in 5 innings of play. Gavin Drooger recorded win number 2 on the season already, pitching 4 and 2/3 innings with 3 strikeouts, 1 hit and a couple walks. It was a full team offense with 7 different players recording a hit. Quincy Thome and Ryan Kuzma both with multi-hit games. Eli Nienhuis also added a triple.
In game 2 of the doubleheader the Chix started off slow but eventually won 12-4 before darkness ended the game after 6 innings. Luke Nagelkirk was very effecient on the mound only throwing 39 pitches in 3 innings of work. Offensively, JJ Salas recorded 4 hits in the game including 2 doubles and 2 singles. Luke Nagelkirk also added 2 singles.
Zeeland East will take on Zeeland West one more time on Thursday, April 13.

The Zeeland East JV Baseball team traveled to Lake Odessa to take on the Lakewood Vikings in a single 7 inning game. Gavin Drooger recorded the win on the mound pitching 3 innings allowing 1 run on 1 hit. He also was 2 for 2 at the plate with 2 walks. Freshman Ryan Kuzma came in to relieve the next 3 innings also allowing 1 unearned run. Quincy Thome closed the game on the mound, and was also 2 for 3 with a double and 2 walks. Luke Nagelkirk went 1 for 2 with 2 Hit by Pitches. The Chix ended up coming away with a 12-3 win over the Vikings in the first game of the season. Next game is scheduled for Monday, March 27 at Wayland Union High School.
