Zeeland East won their first ever District Title in varsity baseball on Saturday.  The Chix defeated rival Zeeland West in game 1 (semifinal) by a score of 10-0.  Easton Remick pitched a complete game shut out, hurling 6 innings and allowing only 1 hit in the shutout.  Remick struck out 6 batters in the contest. Offensively, Remick helped the cause with 3 RBI, while Brenston Brown added a big 2RBI double in the first inning to break the game open.  Austin Keur was on base 3 times and scored 2 runs while Noah DeWitt, Max Salas and Trevor Raade all scored 2 runs as well. In the Championship game, Zeeland East defeated St. Joseph by a score of 14-1 in 5 innings.  Max Salas pitched the complete game, allowing 1 run on 5 hits while striking out 2. Offensively the Chix tallied 15 hits in the game.  Easton Remick and Chris Seay each had 3 hits with 3RBI while Austin Keur and Max Salas each had 2 hits in the game.   The Chix move to 37-3 on the season and play in the regional semi-final on Wednesday at Portage Northern.

Zeeland East dropped their final regular season game on Wednesday to Allendale by a score of 10-2.  Noah DeWitt and Charlie Lacny each had two hits in the game, while Tyler Loeb added an RBI double. The Chix finish the regular season with a 35-3 record and will play against Zeeland West in the district semi-final on Saturday morning at 10am.

Zeeland East hosted East Kentwood at Davenport University on Friday night for a double-header.  Game one came down to extra innings with the Chix walking it off in extra innings by a score of 12-11.  Max Salas picked up the win with one inning of relief.  Evan Owens, Noah DeWitt and Lukas Assa all pitched solid in the victory. Offensively, Easton Remick led the way with 3 hits, including a 2-out 2RBI single in the 9th inning to tie the game.  Two batters later, Trevor Raade delivered the walk-off single (his second hit of the game) scoring Remick for the win.  The victory was the 34th win of the season for Zeeland East, tying the school record set in 2021 by a team that finished the year 34-6. In game 2, Zeeland East broke the wins record, defeating EK by a score of 10-0 in 5 innings.  Gavin Drooger picked the win on the mound, going 4 2/3 innings allowing only 1 hit and striking out 4.  Nick Williams chipped in to help the shutout with one batter faced and a strikout. Offensively, Charlie Lacny had 3 hits, 3 RBI and a double.  Aidan Jaworowski and Aidan Coutts each added 2 hits. Zeeland East improves to 35-2 on the season, breaking the single season record for wins!

Zeeland East traveled to Wyoming on Tuesday to finish their conference OK Green schedule.  The Chix defeated the Wolves by scores of 15-1 and 12-2 to complete the sweep and finish with a perfect 21-0 record in the league! In game one, Max Salas pitched a complete game in the win.  Salas went all 5 innings allowing 1 run on 1 hit while striking out 8. Offensively, the Chix drew 10 walks and capitalized on 9 hits.  Noah DeWitt and Brenston Brown each had two hits in the game while Max Salas, Chris Seay and Charlie Lacny each added doubles.  Tyler Loeb had two RBI. In game 2, Connor Tietema pitched a complete game (5 innings) allowing 2 runs on 1 hit while striking out 9 batters. Offensively, Charlie Lacny led the way with a homerun in the first inning and a 2RBI single to break the game open in the 4th.  Easton Remick, Max Salas, Brenston Brown and Aidan Jaworowski all had two hits in the game.  Chris Seay added two RBI. The Chix finish the OK Green at 21-0 and improve their season record to 33-2.  Zeeland East will travel to play East Kentwood on Friday for a doubleheader at Davenport University.

Zeeland East hosted Wyoming on Monday for an OK Green Conference matchup.  The Chix defeated the Wolves by a score of 9-2. Easton Remick pitched a complete game on the mound.  Remick allowed 2 runs (1 earned) on 3 hits while striking out 12. Offensively, Remick helped the cuase with 3 hits, 3 runs scored and a double.  Trevor Raade and Aidan Jaworowski also added two hits a piece, both scored runs and Raade added two RBI.  Austin Keur added an RBI triple. Zeeland East improves to 31-2 on the year and a perfect 19-0 in the OK Green.  The Chix travel to finish the series at Wyoming on Tuesday.

Zeeland East won the West Ottawa Invite on Saturday defeating Grand Rapids Northview 9-4 and West Ottawa 5-3.   In game 1, Noah DeWitt recorded the win on the mound.  DeWitt went 4 innings allowing 4 runs on 2 hits, while striking out 4.  Connor Tietema pitched a 3-inning save in the game striking out one and only allowing 1 hit. Offensively, Austin Keur led the way with 3 hits (one double) and 3 runs scored.  Easton Remick also had 3 hits in the game, while Max Salas and Noah DeWitt each chipped in with 2 hits. West Ottawa defeated Fruitport 2-1 in the other semifinal.   In the championship game, Zeeland East overcame a 2-run deficite early in the game to defeat host West Ottawa by a score of 5-3.  Evan Owens picked up the win on the mound, throwing 5 innings and allowing 3 runs (1 earned) on 3 hits while striking out 6.  Lukas Assa pitched great with a 2-inning save, allowing no runs and no hits while striking out 1. Offensively, the Chix capitalized on 6 walks to go with their 5 hits in the game.  Brenston Brown had a huge RBI triple, while Max Salas scored 2 runs and added a single. Zeeland East improves their record to 30-2 on the season and hosts Wyoming for a single game at home on Monday.

Zeeland East completed the 3-game sweep of Grand Rapids Union on Thursday, clinching the outright OK-Green championship!  Max Salas pitched a 3-inning no hitter, striking out 7 batters and walking 1 in the victory. Offensively, the Chix had 13 hits in 3 innings.  Max Salas led the way with 3 hits, 1 double and 4 RBI and 3 runs scored.  Trevor Raade also added 2 hits while Chris Seay added a double.  Aaron Keegstra and Nick Williams chipped in with 2 RBI a piece. Zeeland East improves to a perfect 18-0 in the OK Green.  Mona Shores and Wyoming both are in second place with a 13-5 record. Overall the Chix move to 28-2 on the season and travel to West Ottawa for a tournament on Saturday.

Zeeland East hosted Grand Rapids Union for an OK Green double-header on Tuesday.  The Chix defeated the Redhawks 10-0 in game 1 and 17-0 in game 2. In game 1, Easton Remick picked up the win on the mound.  Remick went 4 innings allowing zero runs on one hit while striking out 7.  Nick Williams finished the final inning of the game with 3 quick ground balls. Offensively, Aidan Jaworowski led the offense with 3 hits, including a double and 2 runs scored. Easton Remick, Austin Keur, Charlie Lacny and Max Salas all added 2 hits in the game.  Salas and Lacny each had doubles. In game 2, Lukas Assa pitched all 3 innings allowing 1 hit and zero runs while striking out 7. Offensively, Max Salas had multiple hits in the game while Chris Seay had a 3RBI triple. Zeeland East improves to 27-2 on the season and 17-0 in the OK Green.  The Chix will travel to Union on Thursday to finish the series.

Zeeland East traveled to Jenison for the Jenison Invite tournament on Saturday.  Zeeland East defeated a very talented OK-Blue leading Allendale by a score of 9-3 in game 1.  Evan Owens recorded the win on the mound, throwing 4 innings and allowing 1 unearned on 2 hits while striking out 6.  Trevor Raade and Noah DeWitt each pitched solid in relief. Offensively, Austin Keur and Charlie Lacny each had multiple hits in the game while Chris Seay added a double. Jenison defeated Holt in the other game by a score of 10-0. In the championship, Jenison defeated Zeeland East by a score of 6-2.  The Chix outhit the Wildcats but couldn't string them together enough to capitalize.  Max Salas went 5 innings, allowing 2 runs (1 earned) on 2 hits.  Offensively, Trevor Raade and Easton Remick each had multiple hits in the game, Raade added a double.  Chris Seay and Noah DeWitt each added RBI doubles. Zeeland East moves to 25-2 on the season and host GR Union on Tuesday for an OK Green double-header.

Zeeland East completed the 3-game sweep of Mona Shores at home on Thursday, winning by a score of 8-0.  The Chix didn't allow a single run in the entire series.   Easton Remick picked up the win on the mound throwing 6 innings, striking out 10 batters and only allowing 2 hits.  Connor Tietema pitched the seventh to close the game striking out a batter and inducing 2 ground balls. Offensively, the Chix tallied 8 hits. Remick and Aidan Jaworowski both had huge RBI hits to break the game open in the 2nd inning.  Chris Seay added an RBI triple while Max Salas and Trevor Raade each had doubles.  Salas ended the game with 2 hits and 2 runs scored. The Chix stay perfect in the OK-Green with a 15-0 conference record and improve to 24-1 overall on the year.  Zeeland East will travel to Jenison for the Wildcat tournament on Saturday with Holt, Allendale and Jenison, first pitch at 10am.

The Zeeland East varsity baseball team traveled to Mona Shores on Tuesday for and OK-Green double-header.  The Chix came out victorious in both games by scores of 1-0 and 5-0 behind 14 shutout innings and zero erros on the day. In game one, Zeeland East was fueled by a stellar pitching performance by junior Gavin Drooger who hurled 6 scoreless innings in the win.  Drooger scattered 5 hits, walked 2 and struck out 1 batter in the shutout.  Easton Remick recorded the save, pitching the 7th inning and striking out 2 batters.   Offensively the Chix battled Michigan State commit, Jaxon Huffman and put pressure on him all game long.  Zeeland East finally broke the scoreless game in the top of the 6th inning on a two out double by Brenston Brown, scoring Trevor Raade from first base.  Zeeland East had 6 hits in the game, two by Chris Seay. In game 2, Max Salas pitched a complete game shutout, 7 innings with only 70 pitches.  Salas gave up 2 hits, 0 walks and struck out 6 batters in the gem.  The defense was again stellar with the Chix making every play in the field and zero errors in the game. Offensively, Max Salas helped the cause with three hits of his own and 2 RBI.  Charlie Lacny added two hits an RBI and a run scored.  Trevor Raade, Max Salas and Charlie Lacny all had doubles in the game. Zeeland East improves to 23-1 on the season and 14-0 in the OK Green.  They will host Mona Shores on Thursday for game 3 of the series.

Zeeland East varsity baseball won their home tournament on Saturday defeating Hastings and Sparta.  In game 1, Zeeland East came back from a 3-0 defecit to win by a score of 6-4.  Lukas Assa picked up the win on the mound in relief.  Connor Tietema recorded the save. Tommy Farnum had 3 walks in the game while Austin Keur had a pair of of hits, runs scored and stolen bases.  Easton Remick had a triple while Trevor Raade added a double. In Game 2, Zeeland East defeated Sparta by a score of 8-1.  Noah DeWitt recorded the win on the mound, pitching 4 innings, allowing 1 hit and no runs while striking out 3.  Aidan Coutts, Joe Hilbink and Evan Owens each pitched a solid inning of relief. Offensively, JJ Salas had two hits in the game (1 double) and 4 RBI.  Charlie Lacny added an RBI triple. The Chix improve to 21-1 on the year and travel to Mona Shores for a league double-header on Tuesday.

Zeeland East varsity baseball completed the 3-game sweep of Reeths-Puffer on Thursday.  The Chix defeated the Rockets by a score of 10-0 in 5 innings.  Evan Owens recorded the win on the mound, pitching 4 innings and allowing zero runs on 3 hits while striking out 3.  Connor Tietema pitched a perfect 5th inning recorded one strikeout and no hits. Offensively, Zeeland East was led by Max Salas who had two hits in the game, 2 runs scored and an RBI.  Austin Keur chipped in with one hit, 2 RBI and a run scored.  Charlie Lacny was on base 3 times with a single and two walks, stole a base and scored a run.  Brenston Brown added a double and 3 RBI.   The Chix improve to 19-1 on the season and 12-0 in the OK Green.  They return to action at home on Saturday for the Zeeland East Invite, first pitch scheduled for 10am.

Zeeland East varsity baseball defeated Reeths-Puffer in two games on the road on Wednesday by scores of 5-0 and 12-1 (5 innings).  The games were originally scheduled for Tuesday, but were rescheduled one day later due to weather. In game one, Easton Remick and Lukas Assa combined for a no-hitter!  Remick went 6 and 2/3 innings before hitting his pitch limit with one out remaining in the game.  Remick allowed zero runs, zero hits and 4 walks, while striking out 9 batters.  Assa came in for the final out and recorded a ground out to finish the no-hitter. Offensively, Easton Remick, Charlie Lacny and Noah DeWitt each had multiple hits in the game, while Trevor Raade added an RBI double. In Game 2, Max Salas picked up the complete game win on the mound going 5 innings, allowing one run (unearned) on 3 hits, while striking out 8 batters. Offensively, Easton Remick had 4 hits and Austin Keur had 3 in the game.  Both Keur and Remick scored 3 runs and had multiple stolen bases.  Max Salas and Aidan Jaworowski both had big RBI doubles in the game while Chris Seay added a triple. Zeeland East improves to 18-1 on the season and 11-0 in the OK Green.  They host Reeths-Puffer for game 3 tomorrow (Thursday) at 4:15.

Zeeland East varsity baseball traveled to Hudsonville on Saturday for the Eagle Invite tournament.  In game 1 Zeeland East was matched up with Richland Gull Lake, while Hudsonville battled South Christian. Zeeland East defeated Gull Lake by a score of 9-2 behind a stellar pitching performance by Noah DeWitt and Evan Owens.  Noah DeWitt pitched 4 and 2/3 innings in the win, allowing two runs while scattering 5 hits and striking out 5 batters.  Evan Owens pitched a perfect 2 and 1/3 in relief, reitring 7 straight batters to seal the victory. Offensively, Austin Keur, Aidan Jaworowski and Trevor Raade each had two hits in the game.  Easton Remick and Chris Seay each added doubles and RBI's.  Charlie Lacny also added 3 RBI. In the other game, Hudsonville defeated South Christian by a score of 6-0. In the Championship, Zeeland East suffered their first loss of the season, snapping a school record 16 game winning streak.  The Eagles won on a walk-off in the bottom of the 7th by a score of 2-1. Zeeland East was leading 1-0 into the 6th inning behind a stellar pitching performance by Gavin Drooger.  Drooger hurled 5 scorelesss innings scattering 4 hits and striking out 4 in the no-decision.  Connor Tietema takes the loss in relief allowing 1 run in the 6th and the walk-off winner in the 7th. Offensively, Charlie Lacny had 2 hits in the game, but the Chix left too many runners on base and couldn't capitalize. Zeeland East moves to 16-1 on the year and looks to bounce back on Tuesday with a conference double-header at Muskegon Reeths Puffer.

Zeeland East completed the 3-game conference sweep over Holland on Thursday by a score of 15-4.  Easton Remick recorded the win on the mound, pitching 4 innings allowing 1 run (unearned) on 1 hit while striking out 9 batters.  Aidan Coutts and Joe Hilbink both pitched solid in relief. Offensively, Easton Remick had 3 hits in the game, including an RBI triple.  Charlie Lacny, Tommy Farnum, and Brenston Brown each added two hits in the game.  Austin Keur added two runs scored while Max Salas had 2RBI.   Zeeland East improves to 15-0 on the season and 9-0 in the OK Green.

The Zeeland East varsity baseball team defeated Holland in two games on Tuesday afternoon by scores of 17-2 (4 innings) and 10-6.   In game one, Max Salas pitched the complete game victory.  Salas pitched 4 innings, allowed 2 runs (0 earned) on 3 hits and struck out 9 batters.  Salas also led the way at the plate with 3 hits including a double and 2RBI.  Noah DeWitt also had 3 hits in the game, an RBI and 3 runs scored.  Austin Keur added two doubles and an RBI, while Trevor Raade and Easton Remick also had two hits a piece.  Charlie Lacny added a triple and 3 runs scored. In game 2, Evan Owens recorded the win on the mound.  Owens started the game and went 3 innings allowing 3 runs (all unearned) on 2 hits while striking out 5.  Lukas Assa recorded the 3 inning save, allowing  1 run on 4 hits while striking out 6 batters. Offensively, Easton Remick had 4 hits to lead the attack.  Austin Keur, Aidan Jaworowski and Brenston Brown each added a pair of hits in the game. Zeeland East improves to 14-0 on the season and 8-0 in the OK Green.  They look to complete the 3-game sweep on Thursday at Holland.

Zeeland East defeated Hudsonville on Friday night in a single game at Cornerstone University by a score of 14-11.  Easton Remick recorded the win on the mound pitching 3 innings and allowing 4 (3 earned) runs on 5 hits and striking out 2.  Connor Tietema pitched 2 and 2/3 innings allowing 3 runs on 3 hits while striking out 2 batters. Offensively, the Chix tallied 13 hits in the game.  Easton Remick, Max Salas, Charlie Lacny and Brenston Brown each had multiple hits in the game.  Salas had a double and a triple while Lacny and Chris Seay both added RBI doubles. Zeeland East improves to 12-0 on the season and hosts Holland for an OK Green conference double-header on Tuesday.

Zeeland East completed the 3-game sweep of Muskegon on Thursday by a score of 20-0.  Evan Owens pitched a perfect three innings in the win, striking out 8 of 9 batters. Offensively, Trevor Raade hit his 3rd home run of the season and also added a double, ending the day with 4 RBI in two at bats.  Brenston Brown, Max Salas, and Charlie Lacny each also added a pair of hits in the game. Zeeland East improves to 11-0 on the season and 6-0 in the Ok Green.

Zeeland East varsity baseball swept Muskegon on Tuesday by scores of 25-0 and 19-0.  In game one, Easton Remick pitched 2 innings in the win, striking out all 6 batters he faced.  Nick Williams finished the game striking out 3 batters.  Austin Keur, Trevor Raade, Joe Hilbink, and Brenston Brown all had multiple hits in the game. In game 2, Max Salas pitched a perfect 3 innings, striking out all 9 batters he faced.  Austin Keur, Max Salas, Aidan Jaworowski and Aaron Keegstra had multiple hits in the game.  The Chix improve to 10-0 on the season and 5-0 in the OK Green.  Zeeland East will travel to Muskegon to finish the series on Thursday.

Zeeland East varsity baseball hosted Whitehall for a double-header on Saturday.  Zeeland East won both games by scores of 5-2 and 7-3. Game 1 was controlled by Gavin Drooger who earned his first career varsity win on the mound.  Drooger hurled 5 innings, allowed 1 run (unearned), scattered 3 hits and struck out 9 in the game.  Max Salas recorded the save, pitching 2 innings and striking out 3 batters. Offensively the Chix were once again led by Charlie Lacny who recorded 3 hits in the game .  Brenston Brown chipped in with two hits, including a double and Lukas Assa also added a double. Game 2 was more of the same for Zeeland East with solid pitching from Aaron Keegstra, Easton Remick, Joe Hilbink and Aidan Coutts.  Aaron Keegstra picked up the win, pitching the first three innings, allowing no runs on one hit. Aidan Jaworowski broke the game open with a 2 RBI triple and Charlie Lacny had a 3RBI double in the game.  Chris Seay and Noah DeWitt also both added doubles. Zeeland East improves to 8-0 on the season and hosts Muskegon on Tuesday for an OK Green conference double-header.

Win: 14 - 8
Zeeland East traveled to Holland Christian on Friday afternoon for a non-conference single game.  The Chix defeated the Maroons by a score of 14-8.  Zeeland East tallied 17 hits in the game, led by Easton Remick who had 4, including a triple and 4 runs scored.  Joe Hilbink also had a big game with 3 hits, 2 doubles, and 2 RBI.  Aidan Jaworowski, Max Salas, Trevor Raade and Charlie Lacny all chipped in with two hits and multiple RBI in the game. Lukas Assa recorded the win on the mound for Zeeland East.  Assa went 4 strong innings allowing 4 runs on 8 hits.  Nick Williams and Noah DeWitt pitched solid in relief to secure the victory. Zeeland East improves to 6-0 on the season and hosts Whitehall on Saturday for a doublheader beginning at 10am.

Zeeland East completed the series sweep over rival Zeeland West on Thursday afternoon, winning 14-4 in 5 innings.  Evan Owens started on the mound for the Chix and pitched 4 innings in the win, allowing 4 runs on 5 hits and striking out 3.  Noah DeWitt closed the game, throwing one inning and striking out 3. The game was tied 4-4 going into the bottom of the 4th inning when Trevor Raade broke the game open with a grand slam to gain an 8-4 lead.  The Chix then piled on 6 more runs in the bottom of the 5th capped off with another Trevor Raade home run to end the game in a walk off. Offensively Raade was 3-4 with 2 home runs, 1 double, 6 RBI and 3 runs scored.  Austin Keur added two hits, three runs scored and two RBI.  Easton Remick also had 3 hits, including a double and 3 runs scored and Charlie Lacny was 2-3 with a double, 2 RBI and 3 runs scored.  Brenston Brown also chipped in with a two RBI double. Zeeland East improves to 5-0 on the season and 3-0 in the OK Green.  The Chix travel to Holland Christian for a single game on Friday.

In Game 1 of the Double Header, Zeeland East defeated Zeeland West by a score of 9-0.  Easton Remick hurled a complete game 1-hit shutout, going 7 innings, striking out 12 and only walking 1 batter. Offensively the Chix took an early 1-0 lead in the second inning when Chris Seay scored on back to back hits by Aidan Jaworowski and Max Salas.  The Chix added two more runs in the 5th inning by timely hits, great base running and solid bunts.  Zeeland East then batted around in the 6th inning, scoring 5 more runs to take the win. Easton Remick also added 3 hits, Charlie Lacny had two (including a double), Chris Seay added two hits and an RBI, Max Salas and Aidan Jaworoski also added two hits a piece.   Game 2 Zeeland East 4, Zeeland West 3 Max Salas pitched the complete game victory for Zeeland East.  Salas struck out 9 batters, scattered 4 hits and walked 3.   Offensively, Austin Keur had two hits (including a double and run scored), Charlie Lacny added a hit, RBI and Run scored, and Brenston Brown added a go ahead, game winning 2-RBI double in the 5th inning for the Chix. The Chix improve to 4-0 on the season and 2-0 in the OK Green.  They will host Zeeland West for game 3 of the series on Thursday with the first pitch schedule for 4:15pm.

Zeeland East baseball hosted Wayland in a single game on Tuesday afternoon (rescheduled from Monday).  The Chix defeated the visiting Wildcats by a score of 4-2.  Zeeland East pitchers (Trevor Raade, Evan Owens and Max Salas) combined to allow only 3 hits and two runs (one earned) while striking out 17 batters in the game.  Trevor Raade started in the no-decision, striking out 8 batters in 3 innings and allowing one unearned run on two errors.  Evan Owens was solid in relief with 4 k's in two innings of work.  Max Salas recorded the win in relief with 5 k's in 2 innings. Offensively, Charlie Lacny and Easton Remick both had 2 hits in the game.  Max Salas and Chris Seay both added RBI doubles late in the game to put the Chix in the lead. Zeeland East improves to 2-0 on the season and will play against rival Zeeland West following spring break.

Win: 9 - 4
Zeeland East varsity baseball opened the 2023 season with a victory over Lakewood.  The Chix won the season and home opener by a score of 9-4. The Vikings took an early 2-0 lead in the game in the top of the 3rd inning, but Zeeland East battled right back and capitalized on a few miscues to go up 3-2.  The Chix added 6 more runs in the next 3 innings to secure the victory.  Easton Remick pitched 3 innings in the no decision allowing 2 runs on 2 hits while striking out 5.  Max Salas picked up the win in relief, pitching 2 perfect innings.  Connor Tietema finished the final 2 innings striking out 6 batters. Offensively, Brenston Brown had multiple hits for Zeeland East, including a double.  Charlie Lacny had a go ahead RBI single and Austin Keur scored 3 runs.
